Are you afraid of being alone?
Being alone must be a feeling that people fear the most. We dread the sensation of being on our own, without any help, no one to rely on, and nowhere to turn.
But throughout our lives, we are forced to learn how to cope with loneliness. Events are inevitable and will happen to everyone. Sometimes, there will be someone there with you, while other times, you will be on your own. That’s when you learn how to deal with the things life throws at you by yourself. Because those events, whether caused by you or not, are solely your responsibility to fix. It’s something no one else can do for you.
I was alone when I moved out and lived on my own.
I was alone when my best friends no longer hung out with me.
I was alone when my three-year relationship came to an end.
I was alone when I discovered that my mentor was full of lies.
But it turned out that those “alone” moments were when I experienced the most personal growth. I learned that to go far in life, you must learn how to stand on your own. If I still believed in a place to depend on, a place to run away to, it would only create unnecessary mental weakness. Each time I was alone, I developed the “on your own” mentality and habits. This is the solid foundation of self-reliance and independence.
Because in the end, winning without relying on anyone, or losing without blaming anyone is truly living your own life.
Soon, I will be alone again, all by myself, starting a new journey, to a new place. But all I feel now isn’t fear, but excitement.
